How do I know if this program is a good fit for my child?
LITTLE JAYS: Any child that struggles with fine or gross motor activities, bed time routines, waking/morning routines, mealtime challenges, planning, organization, impulsive behavior etc.
OWLS: Any teen that needs practice with motor skills, job skills, organization/planning or taking care of themselves (such as cooking, cleaning, laundry) would benefit from these services. Teen should be able to follow at least a one step direction.
Do parents remain on site for the sessions?
LITTLE JAYS: We believe parents are the most important influence on the children. For this reason, we attempt to include parents in sessions as much as possible depending on the needs of the child. If parents are not involved in the session, they are asked to remain on site for the entire session in case of emergency.
OWLS: Parents are not required to remain on site as long as there are no health issues that may arise.
Can siblings join the session?
LITTLE JAYS: Siblings may not attend regular sessions as that time is reserved for the skill building of the child unless the sibling will enhance the session for the child. For example, if a child is hesitant to engage in an activity and would benefit from the comfort of another child beside them. If you are interested in a farm "playdate" you may inquire about booking a session for the child and siblings or friends to play (not therapy-based) on the farm.
OWLS: We ask that siblings not join these sessions.
Do you cancel groups in bad weather?
Nope! We bundle up and play in all kinds of weather. We will cancel if there is a danger to the child (lightning, strong winds, hail, wind chill below 20 degrees) and we cannot get out of the danger. We are closed in the winter.
Can we make up sessions we have missed?
LITTLE JAYS: Package services are provided on an 8-week cycle. There will be a make up period after the completion of the cycle. Missed sessions are not made up beyond that make up period.
OWLS: Sessions purchased in a package deal may be made up by scheduling with the therapist within the booked 4-week period. After the 4-week period, these sessions may not be made up.
Can we use a session for a home visit or parent consultation?
Absolutely! Sessions may be used for home visits, community outings or parent consultations. These may need to be scheduled at a time other than your regularly scheduled on-farm session and will take the place of that regular session. We request that these arrangements be made 7 days prior to the requested schedule change.
Are the animals safe for small children to be around?
Most of the animals are small and docile and love to be around people. All activities planned are specific to the needs of each child and we will never intentionally put a child in a situation where they may get hurt. If interested, please request a copy of our safety management plan.
Are you insured in case of injury?
Yes. We have professional liability insurance as well as general liability insurance. However, UNDER
COLORADO LAW, THERE IS NO LIABILITY FOR THE DEATH OF OR INJURY TO A
PARTICIPANT IN AN AGRICULTURAL RECREATION OR AGRITOURISM ACTIVITY
RESULTING FROM THE INHERENT RISKS OF THE AGRICULTURAL RECREATION OR
